Sustainability with global impact
Sustainability is at the heart of everything SARIA does, as it is part of the company’s DNA. Discover the latest Sustainability Report to see how this commitment is turned into real, measurable impact. As a family-owned business, the Group feels a deep responsibility, not just for long-term success but also for safeguarding a livable world for future generations.
The purpose is clear: together towards a sustainable world and healthier living. Value is created for partners and the environment by delivering reliable services and transforming organic resources into high-quality ingredients for agriculture, energy, pet food, animal feed, food, and pharma.
With over 200 sites, 13,000 employees, and operations across 26 countries, local entrepreneurial spirit is combined with global reach.
Every year, 5 million hectares of agricultural crops benefit from the Group’s plant health solutions — an area roughly the size of Luxembourg and Belgium combined. Meanwhile, 20 million people worldwide rely on its pharmaceutical and nutraceutical ingredients, a population comparable to that of New York City’s metropolitan region or São Paulo. Up to half of each animal not used for human consumption is valorized, turning by-products into valuable resources. By replacing traditional jet fuel with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), carbon emissions can be reduced by up to 80 percent. Additionally, up to 80 percent of food waste and 30 percent of fallen animals are transformed into organic fertilizers and biomass, closing critical resource loops. Last but not least, the amount of sausage casings produced by Devro and Van Hessen in 2024 would cover the distance from Earth to the Moon and back 7.5 times.
