Bioiberica and Lactalis launch the first functional milk drink enriched with native type II collagen

Bioiberica, a life science company belonging to the SARIA Group, and Lactalis, the global market leader in dairy products, have jointly developed an innovative, functional milk drink. With “Puleva Vita Calcio Colágeno”, there is now for the first time a milk enriched with native type II collagen, which can make a valuable contribution to joint health.

Functional milk with a scientific basis
“Puleva Vita Calcio Colágeno” combines classic milk components such as calcium with Collavant® n2, a native type II collagen. This allows a functional component to support joint health to be added to the daily diet in a simple and straightforward way, especially for people with an active lifestyle and a focus on active aging.

Clinically proven efficacy
Clinical studies by Bioiberica show that a daily intake of 40 mg of native type II collagen can have positive effects on joint functions. Among other things, the support of joint mobility and recovery after physical exertion were examined. In addition, the study found a decrease in a biomarker of cartilage degradation with the daily intake of native type II collagen. In this way, “Puleva Vita Calcio Colágeno” can provide valuable support in the field of functional nutrition.

Winner of the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Award
The type II collagen Collavant® n2 in “Puleva Vita Calcio Colágeno”, developed and produced by Bioiberica, has just been awarded the prestigious “Frost & Sullivan European New Product Innovation Award”. Frost & Sullivan is an international market research and consulting company. The jury’s statement emphasizes in particular the clinically proven efficacy and its clear presentation – in a market that otherwise often lacks transparent clinical substantiation.

Strategic importance for the functional food market
The integration of clinically proven functionality into a daily food product shows that the functional food sector is increasingly evolving. Scientifically sound and consumer-oriented, functional foods meet the needs of a rapidly growing market for active aging, longevity and health-conscious nutrition. For Bioiberica, the cooperation means a further step towards integrating bioactive ingredients from research into food production in order to further strengthen its position as a leading company in the field of science-based functional nutrition.
